Matt Block joined Dow Lohnes in 1999 and is a Member in the Atlanta office. His practice focuses on corporate transactions.  He has represented both strategic and private equity clients in various M&A transactions, auctions and joint ventures.  Mr. Block also advises clients in connection with governance and contract issues, as well as compliance matters relating to the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976.  His practice involves a number of industries, including media, communications and automotive services. Prior to joining Dow Lohnes, Mr. Block was a litigator, primarily representing automotive and other manufacturers in product liability cases.

Representative Experience

  • Representation of Manheim, Inc. in its acquisition of Dealer Services Corporation, a leading provider of inventory financing to independent car dealers.
  • Representation of Insight Communications in connection with its agreement to sell the company to Time Warner Cable for $3.0 billion.
  • Representation of AutoTrader.com in its acquisition of vAuto, Inc., a leading provider of advanced software tools for used vehicle management, pricing and inventory optimization. 
  • Representation of Total Resource Auctions, a division of Manheim, Inc., in connection with its agreement to lease and operate 22 former Sadisco South salvage pool locations in the Southeastern United States. 
  • Representation of Total Resource Auctions, a division of Manheim, Inc., in its acquisition of six industry leading salvage automobile auction companies operating in 15 locations in nine states. 
  • Representation of Cox Enterprises and certain of its Cox Newspapers affiliates in multiple transactions involving the sale of a number of Cox’s daily and community newspapers and related publications and websites located in Texas and North Carolina, as well as Cox’s Saving Source Direct (direct mailing) business.
