Dow Lohnes's current election law practice can be divided into four categories. First, we advise clients as to the permissibility of proposed political contributions at the federal, state and local level. This includes vetting proposed contributions by individuals, political action committees, corporations, and other entities, to candidates, political parties, and leadership political action committees. Second, we handle the numerous filings with the Federal Election Commission and state election agencies necessitated by these political contributions. Third, we have developed a base of knowledge and experience in the establishment and maintenance of political action committees, both on the federal and state level. Fourth, we counsel political action committees about federal and state requirements to file with the IRS and state taxation agencies in connection with the creation, funding and running of their committees.
